Massage Therapy in The Algarve
What is Holistic Massage Therapy?
Massage is a physical manipulation of the human
body's softer tissues, i.e. the skin's muscles, tendons and
ligaments. The therapist uses their hands to rehabilitate,
stiumlate and promote general relaxation of the whole body.
.You may sleep better; become more relaxed; their skin tone/colour may improve as a result of dead skin cells being removed (Desquamation) Deep relaxation, increased energy levels, improved sense of body image.
Massage dates back to China, approximately 3000
years BC. Julius Casear was 'Pinched' on a daily basis to cure and
ease his symptoms of Neuralgia. Word 'holistic' originates from
the Greek word 'Holos' meaning whole or complete. In the practice
of massage and other complementary therapies an holistic approach
pays attention to a number of factors that may have impacted on
the client's present experience, this could be from their past and
present, both positive and negative, e.g. physical symptoms and
emotional, spiritual and mental well being, plus other factors
such as their environment, diet/nutrition, life decisions,
personal issues and circumstances. All of these factors can impact
on the physical body and affect homeostasis, ie. our body's
internal mechanism for ensuring our metabolism stays on an even
keel and generally to keep us in balance and harmony. 'Masser' is
a French term and translated into English means, 'to rub'. Modern
massage originates from Sweden and was developed by Per Henrik
Ling. He studied ancient techniques and developed them into a
system that we still use today.
